The renewal and regeneration of our cities must now be a key priority for any Government. Eradicating physical, economic and personal deprivation at the heart of many of our cities is a moral as well as an economic imperative.

The renewal and regeneration of our cities must now be a key priority for any government. Eradicating physical, economic and personal deprivation at the heart of many of our cities is a moral as well as an economic imperative.
The role of the Cities Taskforce is to examine the full range of issues which must be tackled if sustainable regeneration is to be achieved. There are few challenges as exciting in 21st century Britain as the renewal of our great cities and urban areas. Our urban landscape has changed greatly in the last thirty years. More and more of us live in towns and cities, which should be the living, breathing embodiment of what is best in modern British society.
We hope that our taskforce will help David Cameron prepare to lead the nation in facing these challenges in the years to come.
Key areas for investigation will include:
* Local Government and Regeneration – including city governance, localism and mayors
* Funding Regeneration – including partnerships and bids for projects
* Regenerating Housing
* Planning for Regeneration – including regulations and large scale planning
* Life and Soul – including enterprise, education and charity involvement
